  • May status of linusbohman.se

    It is the end of May, and this site has been a work in progress for five months, give or take a few days. And I’m pleased to announce that it’s f-i-n-a-l-l-y nearing the end of it’s development process! The reason it takes me such a long time to create this site is twofold:

    1. Next to work, writing my final thesis and personal projects I don’t have all that much time.
    2. Building for yourself is the hardest thing you can do. You never manage to please yourself. If I had a client that acted like me, I’d kick his head in.

    I’ve learnt a ton developing this site, and already know about a lot of things I want to do better in the next version – which I’m probably going to start working on right after finishing this one. Heh. Still, here’s a list of things to fix before linusbohman.se v1 is officially live:

    • With more content the ideas and inspiration section will be hard to browse. When that happens, I’ll present the posts by category.
    • The “previous” and “next” links are hard to see and find.
    • The resource-section is impossible to overlook and has a bunch of strange characters in it. Fix.
    • Style up the resource section.
    • The site is totally iffed in IE6. Don’t know if I’m going to bother make adjustments for such a buggy browser.
    • Add a small hand-written welcome note to the right of “Linus Bohman, creative communicator”.
    • See if the sidebar can be jazzed up a bit.
    • Fill up the portfolio with a selection of works.
    • Publish more of that which inspires me. I’ve got ton of books and printed material as well as sites, videos, physical places and other stuff.

    I love seeing this site grow. Let me know what you think of it. Don’t skip on the criticism – I’ve got a thick skin. It’s one of the best ways to improve.

      Nice site you got here Linus. Good job!

      About IE6. It’s the royal pain. Invented before the iPod even. I discovered a lot of bugs in FF3 recently though, most of which are not present in FF2… So now we have to have:
      * Standards files
      * FF3 fix
      * IE6 fix
      * IE7 fix

      Being a web developer kind of … stinks. Really.
